Just wanted to mention that John Hare was in town for a visit today. Had fun trying out some proof-of-concept hardware for some of his ideas he’s blogged about over the past year or so. We also had lunch with Doug Jones over at Mike’s Roadhouse cafe. John won’t be able to make it out to Space Access this year, so it was really good to have a chance to see him, and catch up on what’s been going on in his neck of the woods.
It’s kind of sobering to realize that I first met John via a conversation on sci.space.policy about Minimum Cost Design rocket development about 12 years ago, and that a joint project with him and Len Cormier came really close to being my first space startup (back while I was still a teenager). Fortunately, I still have three years left before I’ve been doing this space stuff for half my life….
It’s also amusing to note that I think this was the first time since the blog was founded that more than one of us were in the same room at the same time. As it is, I’ve still never met Ken Murphy or Kirk Sorensen in person.

Jon, will you be joining Mike Mealling at ISDC?
Who else is going?
I got back to Florida in time to watch the shuttle launch, but needed sleep more.
So, if you have photographic evidence of this alleged meeting, that may quell the rampant rumors that Selenian Boondocks has only one author, and multiple ghost writers.
😉
