My gmail account was compromised this afternoon. I changed the password, but am not sure if that did the trick. If people keep getting spam email from my gmail account, let me know.

Got a darn-authentic looking email from you (guess I now know how that was done) that was pretty spammy inside, dated yesterday at 18:08:31 PDT; was kinda surprised to see you go from promoting space to promoting websites!! 😉 It was addressed to a couple of dozen people, whose email addresses started with ‘c’ and ‘d’. Nothing beyond that one email.
Yeah, it was authentic looking because someone from Beijing literally logged into my gmail account and sent all of those spam messages. I’ve changed my account password, and destroyed the way I think that they gained access to my password in the first place. But yes, I was hacked.
Yeah, I got one too, monday 2009-8-31 early morning, so it was probably still sunday in the USA. It was advertising how you bought an iphone and how the recipients could get one for cheap too. Almost clicked the link… 🙂
What was the method they got your password with, so others can learn to avoid it?
These things happen, no problem…
gl,
As far as I can tell it must have been the trojan I found on my computer right after the attack. At least that’s what I hope it was. If it wasn’t I have no idea.

All these systems are going to have to start requiring 2 factor authentication.
What do you mean by 2 factor authentication?
